I was shopping online a few months ago, short on cash, I'm on a fixed income, looking for REAL payday loans. Filled out an application online to apply for payday loan. A bunch of places popped up saying "i was preapproved" for several loans and advances on some debit cards i did not need. It spooked me so i deleted all of my info, opted out of all offers, or so i thought, and decided to just tough it out without the extra cash. A few weeks later i get these debit cards in the mail from netspend and account now prepaid cards programs. I really just ignored them, did'nt throw them away, but i had no intention of ever activating them let alone using them, i don't give anyone my personal info, and they wanted my social security number just to cancel the cards, when i tricked customer service into answering my call by pushing option 1 on the menu, for lost or stolen cards ONLY it said. So after they electronically transfered over $100. Out of an account at my bank that i seldom access, causing overdrafts in two seperate accounts. I figured out who it was, netspend!
