On last night, I checked my accounts. I have one main account that I use for everything (including my direct deposits) and I have an additional account that I don't use at all. On last week, I did transfer funds from my main account into my additional account to pay a utility bill, since I wasn't able to find my main account number right then. I processed the payment using a check over the internet on a secure site (the actual utility company site). That was the only time "this" month that I have used that account. I have no idea how this company received my information. I have not received a payday loan, so I don't know what is going on.
When I first noticed the transaction, I called my bank. The rep was able to pull up the check and let me know the company name and telephone number. I told them I would research and give them a call back to file a dispute. When I tried to call the company, the operator said "Reach us after hours". Since that account they "attempted" to pull the $30 from had a zero balance, it caused me to get an overdraft fee.
I am not really stressing about this situation because my bank is great at handling situations like this. I just wanted to make this report, so that other people will realize what type of company this is.
