I check my bank account almost everyday and when I checked it yesterday I noticed a check had came thru with a unusual # on it and in the amount of $30.00. I called the bank to see what it was and they gave me the contact information for the EZ Loan Protection that had sent it thru on my account. I tried calling the company several times with no sucess in reaching anyone. I finally stayed on the line for about 30 minutes when someone finally decided to answer.
I asked what this company was and what their business was. All they would tell me is that the were a business that made payments for you on loans if you couldn't make them. I told them I didn't have any loans with any one and who authorized them to take this out of by checking account. The guy said he didn't have that information and couldn't find out. He acted as if he couldn't really understand what information I was wanting from him... You could tell he was trained well. I called my bank back and they told me to go to a local branch and fill out a paper dispute... Which I have done. They say it takes up to a week to get the credit back on my account... But if the company cannot prove they had authorization to take it out that it would definitely be credited back to my account.
The EZ Loan Protection said that I had filled out an application with a Payday Loan website online and that was why I was charged this amount... They tried to tell me it was good for a year and they could put money in my pocket today with a loan... But couldn't tell me the website that I applied for this "payday" loan.
I did email them but have yet to get a response and from looking at the other reports about them I don't think I will get a response. So far my money is not in my checking account but it has been less than 24hrs so I will keep checking. My bank advised that if they do send in the authorization where they could take it out of my account then the bank would let me know and would give me a copy.
