Woke up this morning to an unauthorized charge on my wife's Wells Fargo credit card (not debit) of $24.90 from an NUFIC (National Union Fire Insurance Company). Confident neither of us signed up for anything we called the bank immediately to dispute the charge.
Was informed by the Wells Fargo customer rep that this is a Wells Fargo third-party partner product. Was more enraged when I discovered that my own bank would not only get into bed with but would give our information to what is clearly a corrupt corporation. I have since made sure all our privacy settings are set to private so that Wells Fargo will not do this to us again. Will be changing both our credit card numbers this afternoon. Will be complaining to whomever I need to at Wells Fargo about their practices. Will be contacting a lawyer to see if any legal recourse can be taken against either NUFIC and/or Wells Fargo. Will be looking to move all our financial services from Wells Fargo.
Luckily for us we don't use our credit cards that often so any charge we see on them is scrutinized. This is the first charge we've seen and it is the only one we expect to see.
The Wells Fargo rep assured us that by disputing the charge, we would not see anymore come from NUFIC.
