Capital Acq. & Mgmt.Co. Attempting collection on OLD debt, ODD that Experian reports it (10-26-03) as an "Account in Good Standing" Thanks complaint

Against my better judgment, I played the answering machine message: "Ms. Price" said that it was "imperative" that I return her call as soon as possible. Well! I knew I was in for some fun now! Especially since she neglected to mention the nature of her call. So, like a dummy, I called, even though I was pressed for time.

"Ms. Price" may the only one at CAMCO with any manners (based on what I have read here)... She never got nasty with me. However, I soon realized that I had better shut up, because it seemed that I was giving her info she did not have.

I mentioned "that old AT&T Universal account"And she said "Oh, you have one there, too?" (I thought that was unnecessary)."No, " I said, "there's just that old account hanging out on my credit report, whereupon she tells me that it IS NOT on my credit report.!!???!!

"What report do you have?" I asked... But she did not answer the question! Would Not Answer! (Interesting - must be TransUnion.)

I tell her have two reports from earlier this month {Experian & Equifax dated October 10}, and Experian reports the account. It is reported as a $0 balance account in good standing. The status is transferred, purchased by another lender. Yes, confirmation that they must have purchased it... There was no new data here!

My casual mention of the 7-year rule only elicited from her a VERY impressively LONG-winded, did-not-stop-to-take-a-breath explanation that bore no resemblance WhatSoEver to the aforementioned rule.

I was too dumbstruck by the display of lung capacity to say anything, but I knew that I needed to do my duty: I needed to read the appropriate United States Code to this poor, uninformed wretch...
;o)
She did let me off the phone so I could make that appointment {Lunch! } that I was headed to. And I had every intention of babbling Title 15, Chapter 41, Subchapter blah, blah, blah to her... Until I found YOU! That is when I decided CAMCO was not worth my time.

But she called every day last week... Before I got the letter... On Halloween... Their "most generous offer of settlement".

F* THAT! Did she not hear me when I told her that I was unemployed? Do I REALLY have to quote legal code?

Fabulous!!! And I can hardly wait to tell her what STELLAR things I read on this website. Maybe, I can talk to Tammy's supervisor, too!

*thank you so very much for this forum!!! Proof that there is still some good left in this world*
