Had a preauthorization request on my bank account of $149.95 from a USA Credit Platinum with an 1 800 number. I called the 1800 number because I did not know why a company by that name would be trying to get authorization to take $149.95 out of my account. Fortunately I was able to go down to the bank and put a non authorized stop payment on it before it was taken out of my account.
When I called the 1 800 number I told the girl I don't know anything about their company and didn't apply for anything from them. And I didn't authorize them to take money from my bank account and she just change the subject to "Here is what our company is going to do for you!" I don't want buy anything so I don't need a $7500 credit limit and I am not paying $149.95 for something I didn't order. She tranfered me to the dispute department. A joke if you ask me. The dispute Manager "Jennifer" told me to have my bank fax them a confirmation that payment is made and in 8 to 10 days they will refund me the money.
My bank said if they fax a confirmation that this payment of $149.95 was made it will not authorize them to return the money. And withdrawing money from my account could continue.
Fortunately I have a small city bank and its customers are like family. I was lucky to stop them before they could take my money out of my account but, the question is where did they get the information to authorize this transaction.
