United Law Group burned me, too! In my case, it was for my car loan. I had paid my lease faithfully for 6 years - huge payments! But I lost my job awhile back and can't afford the payments anymore. It came to the end of the lease and the lender wouldn't work with me, so I found an ad for United Law Group on Craigslist and called them. I told them everything about my situation and all I had tried to do and they told me, after "checking with the attorney" that they could help me. They took my money from my account and had me send them tons of information, and they told me that they could get me a loan to buy out the car for payments about 1/2 of what they have been. They told me to stop making the payments and that they would get the lender to forgive any late payments from that. They told me after reviewing the lease that the lender had committed violations of the law so they would be suing them and that would force the lender to negotiate a good deal with them for me. They told me that once they sent their paperwork to the lender, which was at the end of December the lender could not by law contact me or try to collect until the negotiation process was over. They told me not to talk to the lender because that could mess up what they were doing. But then... The lender started contacting me by phone and letters because they weren't getting their payments. I kept telling United Law Group and they said they would check into it. Later they told me I should call the lender and work out a deal with them for the late payments, that by then had gotten too large for me to pay them. Then, if I could ever even reach anyone at United Law Group, they started trying to get me to do a bankruptcy through them for thousands of dollars more. I started having to call them and email them over and over again. I always got the run around. If they ever got back to me, they would have me talk to different people, none of which seemed to know anything about what was going on with my file. I asked to talk to my attorney. They would never even tell me who my attorney was! The lender has kept calling and kept mailing me more and more threatening letters. I haven't been able to take my car out of the garage for 2 1/2 months for fear of it being repossessed, so I have to have friend take me to the store to even get groceries. Now the lender is threatening to repossess and to sue me! I paid the car loan perfectly for 6 years! United Law keeps telling me they're working something out and will get back to me. Finally last week the lender called and told me that she had looked up United Law Group and that I should google them - that they are a scam! I saw so many complaints - All just like mine and worse! The same run around - They make you all sorts of promises and sound so reasonable and like they can do something you can't on your own because they are attorneys, but then they don't do anything, they let your situation get even more desperate, then try to force you to spend more money with them to do a bankruptcy. Would I trust them to do that if they can't even do this? They never did negotiate anything. They never did sue the lender. They did nothing. Finally last week after I looked them up I sent emails to all the people I have addresses for there. They all bounced back to me. I tried to look at my file on line (which seems to be some bogus automated conversation log that has nothing to do with what is actually being done - it's just all preprogrammed baloney!), but my login and password no longer worked - I had been locked out! I tried calling over and over again for several days and the phone number (800-680-5717) kept saying "all circuits are busy"! They gave me no way to contact them or do anything about this. I had finally lined up some piece work after being unemployed for a long time... But it requires me driving to people's homes. I can't take the assignments because I'm losing my car. I had worked out my own mortgage modifications for both my first and second mortgage (can you believe I was super careful about loan mod scams with those and decided to do them on my own because I was scared of just this sort of thing happening!), but now I may not be able to pay those either if I can't start working before my unemployment runs out. Just like all these people that paid money to these scam artists and now are losing their homes, I could well lose my home of 21 years because I am losing my car! I just want them to do what they said they were going to do... Or I just want my money back! I hope someone will tell me how to get in on a lawsuit of these people. They should ALL be put in jail so they can never hurt vulnerable people again!!
