Several month ago I ordered a Free Credit Check online, I dont remember ever being informed of any sort of membership for anything. I was looking at my checking account online this morning and found a charge for a CIC*Credit Monitor Svc 877-513-4175, for the amount of $79.95. Im sure that had I been aware of any fees of that amount, I would not have accepted it.

When I called them to find out why I was being charged for this, who they were, and to cancel it, I was informed that I had done a free credit check back in early July and that I had 6 months to cancel it for my money back. So, I told the person who anwered the phone that I did not believe I ever asked to be signed up for this service and that I did want it to be cancelled.

She then proceeded to ask me several id verification questions such as, my name, address, email address, ssn, mothers maiden name, and my date of birth. After answering all of these questions I was told that I could not be verified because I had given them the wrong year of birth, therefore they could not cancel my service.

She then instructed me to send a fax copy of my drivers license. I promptly called my bank about this charge and asked them what I should do. I then called CIC back again and got a different person and went through the same questions. He agreed that I did not have the correct year of birth. I demanded to talk to a supervisor, so he put me on hold, then came back and said that he was told to verify my email address. Well, simple enough, now we seem to be getting somewhere. After all, the last person I talked to did not say anything about me giving her the incorrect email address.
My email address is..., I said.
Sir, that is not the email address we have for you, the operator replied.

Then told him that the last person I spoke with ask me for my email address and did not tell me that I had it wrong. We then argued that point, he said that she did not asked, when in fact I know she did. To make a long story a little shorter, we were like a couple of kids that were in disagreement, No she didnt, Yes she did, No she didnt. Then he put me on hold for a minute and said, Sir, I just talked to the person you talked to last, she did not ask you for your email. Well, regardless, I know what I was asked and what information I gave. So, I told him my secondary email address. Would you believe, it was wrong also.

Finally after several minutes of trying to make this person understand that I was who I said I was. I got to talk to his supervisor. Well, guess whatYou guessed it, I didnt get anything from her but For me to issue you a refund I need you to fax us your drivers license, twice. Nothing else, thats all she said.

Well, because of this unexpected and unwanted charge, I have not only fight with them, but I have to fight with my bank over two overdrafts that this caused. And they call themselves a credit protection plan??? They just screwed me.
