My complaint with Orchard Bank / Household Credit Services (OB/HCS) is this in late November I sent off an application for the Orchard Bank Secured MasterCard the minimum $250 was enclosed with the application. I received my new OB MasterCard a few days before Christmas December. Within six months after the account was opened I requested a credit increase and was subsequently denied the request. I received a letter that their decision was based on my credit report. I let the matter go. Since then I have not been able to get my credit line increased (except if I make a deposit) or have my account graduated to unsecured.
However, Orchard Bank/Household Credit Service has no problem imposing outlandish fees to my account i.E. A company submitted a charge that was less than $20.00 however, I had only $1.00 available credit OB/HCS authorized the charge which resulted in my account be assessed $29.00 over-the-limit fee. Clearly, OB/HCS should have denied the charge. Most recently I contacted OB/HCS and requested a credit line increase or account graduation again, denied.
It is a fact Orchard Bank/Household Credit Service has no intention of upgrading or protecting its secured card holders however, OB/HCS will use a myriad of unfair credit practices to generate quick dollars for the company and to keep this particular group from obtaining its goal of being credit worthy and responsible.
I have decided to payoff my account and then close (note if you have a balance on your account when you close it OB/HCS will impose a $3.50 monthly service fee).
