Added Charge for Money Transfe

Chase Bank is probably the greediest, least user-friendly bank in existence, right? But everyone knows that already. I was banking at WAMU, a decent bunch of folk, as bankers go, when Chase took them over. Since them, I have had one serious complaint a week. If you decide to open an account at Chase, don't say you haven't been warned!

Yesterday, I was at the Chase branch where I deposted a U.S. Government social security check. I asked the teller, "when will the money be available?" She said, "immediately." About an hour later I was in the market and used my Chase debit card to pay for the groceries. Prior to my deposit, I had only about $20 in my checking, which is tied to a savings account to prevent overdrafts. The $40 market charge activated my savings overdraft, transferring money to my checking from savings and charging me $10 for the privilege! Where was my "immediate" posting of the government check?

A few weeks ago, I got caught in this Dental White/Dazzle White scam, where once they got my debit card number, they kept charging me. I reported this to Chase immediately, figuring because it was a MasterCard debit card, and Detal White was involved in a fraud, Chase would investigate and reverse the charges. NO WAY! Two weeks later, Chase came back with a form letter telling me the claim, about $56, was denied and it would not be reversed. How could I be so dumb to think Chase's so-called protection for your card meant anything! It doesn't. I sent a letter to the CEO of Chase and they finally did reverse the charge.

On October 14, I placed a payment for my mortgage on the Chase online bill pay. I needed the money to get there by October 16, which should have been no problem based on a two-day transfer time via e-mail. On October 16, I looked at my online bill pay. The payment had not been made! There was no record of it! I'm no simpleminded and I know I entered a payment for the mortgage. Now it was late, and as a result I have a $50 late payment fee. Proof, I have none!

With any Chase problems, I suggest you write to the Chase CEO and copy the Comptroller of the Currency. You might have your problem resolved, but you might not.

Ron
