I lost my job, and my credit card got racked up to about 300 dollars over the limit. They mailed me a settlement offer to pay off and close my credit card which i accepted. I made the first two payments on time. The third payment, I called the day before and informed them that I wouldn't be able to make it for a week. The representative told me they don't usually accept different dates for settlement offers, but because i had made my other two payments early, and regarding the circustances of me losing my job she would make an exception to pay it a week later, which I did. I went to the internet website to view my account to make sure everything was right, and it wasn't so I called them. I spoke to a manager and he told me there was no notes in my account that I had spoke to anyone about a different date for payment, and therefore I was trying to commit fraud!!! I told him it wasn't my fault his representative didn't put notes in my account. He said there was no way she would have offered me that option because they don't do that with settlement accounts. I told him, why would i put forth the effort to make my payments early and then just slough off the last one? When I have no job and no means to keep the card. He said the only thing i can tell you is this is all your fault, and your settlement offer is null and void. Therefore, I have to continue to accrue 30 dollar late payements, along with 25 dollar overlimit fees, until my card is completely paid off. This is a load of crap!!! They will try to screw you out of money and claim you dont call when you do! Dont ever get a credit card from continental finance!!!
