Capital Acquisitions & Management Co ripoff business from hell

Harrassment; tried to collect on paid off credit card...

I just wanted to add my name to the list of many others who CAMCO has harrassed and tried to scam money out of. I got a letter from CAMCO for the first time about 8 months ago telling me I still owed something like $800.00 on a Citibank Visa card that I had acquired back in 1987.

First of all, the letter didn't even come to my house, it was sent to my mom's house, where I haven't lived for the past 15 years. At first I was just going to ignore it because I knew the account had been paid off and closed within a few years of it being opened, and I knew it wasn't showing on my credit report because my husband and I had just bought our second house and I knew my credit was excellent!

Well, I got worried that they would place it back on my credit so I called the number on the letter and left a voice mail to someone who I don't even remember. I explained the situation about how the balance had been paid in full and that I thought it was a mistake that they were contacting me. I left my cell phone number thinking that it would be better than giving them my home phone just in case it got ugly. Some guy called me back a couple of days later and we basically got into it and he started telling me he was going to "freeze" my credit (whatever that means) and that I shouldn't be surprised if the sheriff showed up at my door one day! I actually started laughing at him!!!

I ended up telling him that unless he could provide me with proof that I still owed on this debt that I wasn't going to pay a dime. I told him to never call me again and hung up on him. I didn't hear anything from them again until about 3 weeks ago when I got a message on my cell phone and my home phone (which I have no idea how they got since my # is unlisted) from a guy named John Collins. I never spoke with him, but a few times he called and my husband would answer, telling him to stop calling me, and that this account had been paid off. He told my husband that he would NOT stop calling and if we wanted him to stop we had to send a letter. So, after doing some research on the internet about CAMCO and reading all the complaints, I found out about the Cease and Desist letter. I sent them one about a week ago, certified mail and I haven't heard from them since.

They can be stopped! You just have to do a little bit of work, and send the letter!!!
