Noticed an unauthorized charge in my checking account from Intuit, pertaining to Turbo tax. I closed my account with Intuit over two years ago. I was issued another debit card within those two years. How did they get my card or account information?
I was sent an email regarding Turbo Tax's pre-order. I went directly into my checking account to confirm this bogus charge. On the charge detail, they did give a support phone number (800) 446-8848. I went around in circles through their menus in an attempt to talk to a live person. No luck at that support number. Only install support for Turbo tax.
I also tried Intuit's web site via contact us. I selected the product type and billing issue. What a shock, contact us was unavailable.in my opinion, this was intentional, never getting to talk to a live person.
I wanted this billing fraud to be taken care of immediately. I got nowhere trying to rectify this situation with Intuit. I could not wait until I receive this software and go through their internal process, which could take weeks before you see a credit, if at all.
I then went to my bank to dispute this charge. My bank was very helpful with assisting me to getting this process started. My debit card was closed and it will take around five to seven days to issue me a new one.
I wish someone would look into Intuit's billing practices for Turbo tax. What they have done is pure fraud. I have not done business with them for a long time. Where are they getting their billing information.in my case, it had to be with my 2006 direct debit information on my 1040. If true, this is a severe breach in the federal privacy laws.
