This may come as a surprise to you, as hell it was for me. But there may be more to these 'draft fee's then banks are letting on. I decided to go back a few months, where I had encountered another issue, with this bank.
It started out simple enough, having money in the account, and perhaps a 'pending' draft fee was added to the account (they were just starting to add pending charges). Even though I was still positive $7.38 in my account, they charged their fee. I transfered over another 10. It wasn't very long until the overdraft fee was reversed.
But it got even funnier then that, towards the end of the month, right when I got my check and the month's statement rolled over. They secretly through on another 70dollars. One was an 'extended fee', (mind by this time I was 17usd in my bank account, and I was not negitive), Ontop of a Bogus Return item fee to the local corner shop me and my friend always shop at. (We never return anything there or make a fuss, often they let us use 'credit'. Which is what makes the return fee abit out there.)
Anyway I just noticed it today, after I was doing the math to call them tomorrow. Because they thought it would be smart to throw down 2 more fee's on 2 items that were $3.63 away from the bouncing. Of course my account doesn't even show the exsistance of the $3.63. But sitting there with a calculator in my hand trying to figure what went wrong. It was quite simple, they erased my entire balance just to throw on 70usd on fee's on a purchase that was completely covered by the previous balance there. I had 34.25 in my account and the 2 purchases they decide to throw fee's on only came up to 30.60.
Of course they decided to make it alittle more fun, incase I decided to fight it. Which I am definately going to. I am even going to demand the 70usd reimbersement they took from me 2 months ago. If your not careful when they throw these fee's on you, you might be giving away more then your seeing up front.
To anyone using this bank, if you see any form of 'red' in your numbers, you better double check all of your prices for that month. But even like I said, any 'fees' that were added to your account you should check, some of those sneaky ones they wait til you can cover it before throwing them on to make them hide in the black font.
Bank of America does more then just rob you with nonsense fee's. Keep in mind they are just a distraction, if you have alot of overdraft fee's going on you can bet they are scooping some extra change off the top. Double and tripple check your balances. Some of them are as simple as a few cents here, a few cents there. But often they are more then a few dollars.
