Conseco
Insurance screwing their customers taking steps to assure profitability of medical business rip-off to consumers

Over the last several years this company has been marketing health plans. Then, after a year or 2, they discontinue the insurance plan or pull out of the state like they are doing now!

Below is a list of states where Conseco is pulling out and leaving many who will be uninsurable. How does our government allow this? I forgot, soft money to the politicians.

Here is a copy of the letter they have sent out to all their agents. YOUR STATE COULD BE NEXT!

To assure the overall profitability of the individual major medical block of business, Conseco Medical is implementing a number of changes, including exiting the market in the following states:

Arizona, Hawaii, Missouri, Tennessee, Arkansas, Illinois, Montana, Utah, Delaware, Indiana, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Georgia, Kansas, South Dakota

In the states listed above. Conseco Medical will not accept new business applications dated after August 1 or any applications received on or after August 15.

Letters will be received by inforce policy/certificates holders on or about August 1 informing them of the company's decision to exit the major medical market in their state. Policies and certificates will terminate on the premium due date following the 180-day notice. A sample generic letter is included on the next age of this Fast Focus.

Conseco Medical will continue to market Conseco Classic Choice and Classic 60 IN South Carolina and Conseco Classis Choice in Texas. Conseco Medical will non-renew all other CMIC products in South Carolina and Texas. Letters will be received by inforce policy/certificate holders on or about August 1 informing them of the company's decision to non-renew their coverage. Policies and certificates will terminate on the premium due date following the 180-day notice.

Annual payment modes discontinued:
For the states listed above, the annual payment mode has been discontinued. Effective with policies/certificates issued on or after July 25 only semi-annual, direct quarterly and monthly PAC payment modes are available.inforce policy/certificate holders in these states will not be allowed to change to a less frequent premium mode. This applies to products being terminated in South Carolina and Texas as well. '

A Producer Focus has been prepared for your use in communicating these changes to your producers. The POF file of this special Producer Focus is included with this email. Please distribute this communication to your producer.

Please contact your sales vice president with questions concerning this action.

Important notice of non-renewal of your health insurance plan

Please be advised that Conseco Medical Insurance has decided to exit the individual major market in you state in accordance with the provisions of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Availability Act (HIPAA) and the applicable statutory requirements of you State. HIPAA requires that each insured person be given notice at least 180 days prior to the date of coverage non-renewal.

This coverage and all benefits included under the contract for you and any covered dependents will end at 11:59 P.M. Local time on the next premium renewal date, which falls on or after February 1. Any other insurance coverage you may have with us is not affected unless separate notice is provided.

All claims incurred prior to the non-renewal date will be processed under the provisions of your coverage. Proof of loss for claims should be submitted within 90 days after the end of coverage, if reasonably possible.in any event, written proof must be submitted within one year after coverage ends, unless you are legally incapacitated.

We cannot accept premium that would pay your coverage beyond the non-renewal date. Benefits will not be paid for claims incurred after the non-renewal date, or after the period for which premium was last paid, unless otherwise provided by your coverage or applicable insurance law.

A certificate of creditable coverage will be sent to you shortly after your coverage ends, which you can provide to other insurance carriers as proof of prior coverage.

We encourage you to contact your agent for assistance in securing coverage through another carrier. Even if you have difficulty in obtaining replacement coverage, your agent is best suited to review the range of alternatives available to you at this time.

This was not an easy decision for Conseco Medical Insurance. It was reached only after it became clear that the Company could not continue in the current individual major medical market should provide you with an opportunity to seek other coverage.

If you have any question, please write us at the address shown below.

Sincerely,

Scott Miller
