This is not a rip-off per se, as I did receive back my money... This is in response to some of the other reports I saw here and just a general warning.
I started some debt resolution with Enlightened Debt back in August. I signed a contract, made regular payments, which I had to stop twice; the first time was because of loss of my wages, the second was when my fiance lost his job. I am happy with the customer care, as someone always got back to me in a timely matter.
However, after this last time I had to cancel services altogether (and believe me, I want to pay off old debts but with less income coming in than we have expenses for the forseable future, it is just unfortunately not possible), I remembered a statement I had gotten a couple of months back from the company they go through, Global Client Solutions, and was able to get a user name and password from GCS (very awesome customer service, btw!) and logged in and was shocked to see that I have a $986 balance with no payments ever being sent out from this account.
I can't say that I was completely ripped off, as I contacted the company they work through, Global Client Solutions, and was able to get a refund.
It's just very worisome that I sent them all my documents, with my credit report, account #'s, approval signature for them to contact my insurance companies... If they never received this information, I had called them enough times for them to know how to reach me. I find it odd that in 8 months time not a single payment was made to any of my creditors.
