We were told that we could "lock in" a low interest rate (4.75%), but we needed to provide a credit card number for the $500 "Good Faith" deposit which would come back to us at closing. This did send up a few red flags for me but in our excitement at locking in that low rate, we did it anyway. Now, 6 weeks later, after jumping through many many hoops and providing them with more private information that I would give anyone, we are denied and we MAY be able to get back part of the deposit if there is any of it left after the fees for a credit check and home appraisal.
Any advice on how to get my deposit back? I am going to call my credit card copmpany now and dispute this charge.
