I had a Green Dot Pre-paid Master Card that I used for on-line billing and purchases. Green Dot closed my account without my knowledge. So, I went to Radio Shack to re-load it so I can pay my bills. The Green Dot System allowed me to load my card with $300 on a closed account (I didnt know it was closed when I loaded my card.) When I got home and tried to use the card, it was denied. I checked the balance on-line and it said I had $300 avaliable. I tried again and got the same message that the card information was declined.
So, I called Green Dot and was told that my account was closed & they would issue me a refund. I was furious. I asked them why I was allowed to load money on a closed accouont and they had no answer for me. I told them my story and I was told I would have a check sent to be Fed Ex and would have it by 4/21/09. I needed this money for bills and had no extra money to cover the $300. So, since I was late on my bills, I called the utilitiy companies and BEGGED them to wait untill 4/21/09 when I was PROMISED the refund check.
At the end of the day on 4/21/09 I called Green Dot AGAIN and asked what was going on. The representive told me that is was just CUT ON 4/21/09 and I would have it by 4/24/09. Well, since I did not get the check on 4/21/09 as promised, my electricity and Gas has been shut off and my family has no heat, hot water, lights and all the food in the refridgerator has spoiled. So, I called them again today... 4/22/09 and was told again that the check was cut & sent TODAY... Not 4/21/09 and I would get it by 4/24/09. Since I did not trust what was told to me, I contacted Columbus Bank (Owners of Green Dot) and told them my story. They pushed me through to Green Dot AGAIN and was told (after the the first representitive told me all was ok and it was sent) that it was NOT CUT OR SENT YET AND I WONT GET IT UNTILL 4/27/09.
Do not use this company. Refunds are not allowed at the reloading center and you have to FIGHT with this company. Not trustworthy and I am filing a law suit for Fraud. The fraud part was letting my load funds on a closed account. Then keeping my money. Do not use green dot!
