I applied for a $200 loan with UpFrontMoney.com, they contacted me and my bank to verify my bank account information, then they deposited the money in the account. We agreed to pay back the full amount or defer it $89 on a biweekly basis. The discussion of prepai phonecards was never discussed. After receiving the loan and it was time repay they informed me that I con't cancel unless I pay $289, in addition to the two additional payments of $89.99. I contacted them by phone and email, they refuse to stop taking money from my account.
At first they would withdrawl by ACH then they would make withdrawals as a credit card purchase even though I never gave them my bank card information. They have taken almost $1000 in less than 3 months. At the time I filed disputes and closed my bank account they were still trying to debit money from my account. So far, I have 4 disputes for transactions in a 2 week period. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would purchase prepaid phone cards on a biweekly basis through ACH or direct debit.
The average person owns cell phones with unlimited long distance and a home phone with unlimited long distance. The average person probably have at least 2 cell phones. I would never pay that kind of money for prepaid card. I can walk to any corner store or gas station, druggest, etc and purchase phone cards for $5-10. Their advertisment says "UpFront Money Fast Cash Back" It also states on their website that they rebate money never have to be paid back but they charge you on that biweekly charge. They are so much a rip off. Now when you go their website they state they are no longer taking online applications, I wonder why.
They need to be stopped and anyone they took money from they should have to pay back. We can start a class action case and file with small claims court. I reported them to BBB, channel 6 Consumer Report, FTC, Wachovia Bank, and anybody else I could think of. Is there anyone who wants to join in to take action?
