I've been paying blue cross far too much money for too long. It costs 700 dollars a month, and they still leave me with 150$ copays. Anyhow, thats not the issue. I paid my december bill two weeks in advance, as usual. I went in to fill a prescription, and shockingly my coverage was cancelled. I called customer service, they claimed I hadnt sent in a payment. This was strange, since I had the cancelled check from the bank in my hands and it clearly stated that they'd cashed it. I faxed the check in question to the reps, and they promptly did nothing. I mailed customer service a copy of the bill, the check and a friendly complaint letter. Of course, no response. I called back several times, but after being put on hold I found myself disconnected each time.
Long story short, I went to the BBB and filed a complaint. I dont understand it, but the BBB dismissed the complaint as "invalid" two days later.
I'm not sure how this works... I paid my excessively large insurance bill two weeks early. They cashed it the day before it was due, and still closed my account. There was no phone call, no letter, no attempt of communication from them prior to closing my account. And the worst thing is that they've robbed me of 500 random dollars.
This is not the first time they've pulled this on me, almost every other month my insurance gets cancelled due to nonpayment, even though the check was sent in weeks in advance. Either way, this was the last straw, I'm moving over to medicaide and saving alot of money.
