We were approached via telephone by Michael Davidson stating we were approved for a $5000 personal loan but needed to wire eight monthly payments as colladeral. We had applied online through military.com and thought that is where they received our personal information. We have huge medical bills for our young son and had applied at local credit unions/banks and were denied. We were suspicious but also desperate so we took the chance. We wired the money to Canada... (humiliating to admit) We were told that the money would be deposited in our checking account by 5 pm the next business day. It was not. We spoke to Michael Davidson and a "Darren" and were told that our loan had been audited and they would need an additional $1000 to purchase an insurance policy for our loan. We refused and demanded our money back. They guaranteed that the money would be deposited on December 29. It was not and when we tried to phone them we received the automated, "Thank you and Goodbye." We researched the address and called other businesses located in the building and there is no "Charter Lending Group" located in the building and the person who answered the phone said that she had received many calls and even had someone come in looking for this business. We had even looked at the Better Business Bureau before signing and there wasn't any negative information listed. Also tried to go to their website www.charterlending.net and that is no longer there either.
