Taken advantage of... By a wealthy company. Im sure to be 1 of millions New York

Several years back, Citigroup offered me a great credit card, with a really nice interest rate. I had a 5800.00 credit limit and I rarely ever used the card. When I did use the card, I paid it off immediately. One day for no reason I noticed that with out my acknowledgment, not did I apply or request, my credit limit was raised to an outstanding 11000.00. Wow!!! I thought to my self, was it really that easy to obtain good credit.? I was a member to citi for less than a year, how was this possible..? After some phone calls
I was told that they automatically raised it, good behavior i guess..
WELL... Lets get married I said to my now wife, and put some of it on the card.

Long a behold. After I had spend close to 6600.00 on that card, my extended credit limit of 11000.00 was taken away. They said I defaulted some how, although I paid them on time... The lady at the time in customer service, advised me that the extension was a mistake, and that i would have to apply for it if i wanted it... I said to her, you gave it to me already. Ok no problem, guess what... I applied and was denied! Forcing me to be over my original credit limit of 5800.00. And also forced to pay over limit fees and late fees. Why late. Well the minimum payments well more than my car payment..
This was an unfair tactic by this company to abuse their regulations and I was taken advantage of. Now I owe them well over 12000.00 in interest and late fees.
Is this how easy a company can succeed in this country? If so, i got in to the wrong business. Please help me, is what they did legal, and now that a judgment has been filed against me. What can I do? Can this crooks do this every day to normal Americans? Is it all on the fine print of that package of legalities, that no one explains to you?
