I owed for a defaulted payday loan back in 2005 for 1465 dollars

This company called me and has been harrassing me about a payday loan that goes directly to my bank and is deducted directly from my back said that I defaulted on a loan and that I needed my lawyer to contact them about the loan and that i needed to pay this off immediately. I am due to give them some money today and i need to find out if this is a scam before I put money on my debit card. Please help me
