On Nov. 23 I received a cashiers check in the amount of 3,999.00 there was a letter enclosed saying I won money however I never entered any contest so I do not know how they got my name.
I was very sceptical so i started searching the internet for all the addresses listed on the check i did a google earth search to find that the address in Amarillo Tx is a vacant lot and that Southwest Corporate FCU is not located in Dallas but in Plano TX.
The Letter went on to state that the check was to take care of the taxes for the amount of money 66,500.00 that I had won and that the amount represents the 6% winnings that would be deducted from the huge sum of money I won.
Although I am not a victim of this scam because I like to investigate things before I cash unexpected checks that come in the mail for no reason. I do not want anyone else to fall victim to this scam the bank verified that this check was no good and it should be reported to the Better Business Bureau.
