Did not pay balance on time missed it by one payment. Now they have charged me all the interest from back when the loan was 3'000

I attempted to pay for the $3.000 mortgage from the deadline I skipped it with a handful of months. They're getting me 19% overall $3.000 the funds are getting up $20.00 each month If don't spend the$786.00 in curiosity so what can I actually do about that it's destroying my great credit
