Citi Residential Lending, Ameriquest Mortgage
Complete Incompetence

Well, after reading some of the other reports, mine seems insignificant, but infuriating just the same. Citi residential took over my mortgage from Ameriquest (and yes, I was a victim to all of the underhanded tactics). My taxes were escrowed beginning in 2007.in May of I decided to refinance this mortgage and get rid of this company. When the title company began their research, they found that my 2007 taxes were not paid. The title company contacted Citi-residential, but Citi would not speak to then.in June 0f I contacted Citi to verify if the 2007 taxes were paid. They promptly provided me with dates and amounts. After several more phone calls I call back to Citi who puts me in touch (via phone transfer) with Fidelity (which apparently is the company handling all the tax issues). Fidelity tells me the taxes were paid and mailed to my tax collector. At my request, Fidelity agreed to do an investigation and acquire copies of the cancelled checks for my use. I was told to expect the checks in 10-15 days. Because the closing was scheduled just a week from that date, Fidelity agreed to put a rush on the investigation and would have something for me in 5 days. On the 5th day, I called back (thru Citi) and was told by a customer service rep that Fidelity is no longer being utilized by Citi so therefore I cannot be transferred to them. So, it is now July 1st, I am to close on the new loan, and now must repay my 2007 taxes at closing. A request was made by Citi for further investigation about the cancelled checks. That was in July... It is now November... After dozens of phone calls, numerous excuses, and much aggravation, I do not have the cancelled checks. I was finally routed to the Office of the President (at my insistence) on Nov 5th and spoke to Jose. He agreed that 7 months was indeed too long to wait for a cancelled check and assured me he would take care of this. On Nov 10, I left a message for him, it was not returned. On Nov 11, I called... Jose answered... He told me he had 1 check but was waiting for the other 2.. I asked him to tell me who endorsed the check... He told me it would take a couple of hours to download the email and give me the info. Sounds like a long time but ok... I called back in 2 hours... He told me the back of the check (email) was not legible so he requested a digital email (I am not a techie but is there such a thing). He would get back to me by the end of the day. Well... No call. I left 4 messages for him the following day... All unanswered. I called in and spoke with a woman who assured me that Jose was competent and I should just wait for him to call. She also stated that there was no one above him for me to talk to. I called back immediatiely after that and by luck, Jose answered. He told me he was waiting for the checks and would call me when he had them.in about a week... Another week... He told me there was no need for me to keep calling... He would contact me when he had the info I wanted. I told him I didn't expect him to ever contact me because I don't believe they paid my taxes... Which means no cancelled checks... I also told him the next correspondence he received would be from an attorney. I have reached the end of my rope with this. I t was a simple request and although the amount isn't a large amount... It is the princible... If I were a day late or dollar short they would report me to the credit bureau immediately and ruin my credit... No exceptions... But it is perfectly acceptable for me to wait 7 months for cancelled checks... And then act very unprofessional about it. My intent is to sue and the amount on the suit will be much higher than the money owed me for taxes.
