Ameriprise Financial Inc
Theo percleous with ameriprise financial in miamisburg oh

A call was made to Theo requesting him to make our money safe on August 25. This was only the beginning. We didn't know how to tell him how to do that, just to do it. We are retired early and raising grandchildren and needed to make our money safe. We trusted Theo and it was not taken care of. There were several phone calls after the 25th. It was on 10-2-08 that he was asked to move our money to cash and exchange the money with a money market fund that invests almost exclusively in U.S. Treasury Securities or equivalent such as Capital Preservation Fund. It took hours on the internet to find out how to advise him on what to do, which is his job. We should not have to do the research on the phone and compouter, under the extreme stress we were under. One of us was in bed for days with depression and the other in a panic trying to find out what to do. Anyway, at that time he said bull shit, those funds are frozen. I called Mary Beth, his assistant, to see if she could get Theo to do what we had asked. At that time we found out all the funds were not frozen. We have been terrified, because this is all we have to live on the rest of our lives, and angry because our request was denied. I know Theo hasn't seen anything like this and he didn't expect the market to do what it did, but bottom line he didn't do what we requested him to do. He thought he knew what was best but it wasn't best.By October 6, all hell was breaking loose in the market. It was sickening because our advisor had not done what we requested him to do. We filed a complaint with Mr. Jesse Pederson with Ameriprise in Minneapolis, MN. We doubt if anything will come of this since it their company. We know that the market goes up and down and we have always been used to that, but this time I had a gut feeling in August and the end result was worse than the gut feeling. Advisors should do what they are requested to do, even if they think they know what is best for the client. We thought it was that way. What a way to find out it isn't. We are also complaining to the Division of Securities in Columbus OH. Any other suggestions from you would be appreciated. We would not mind being contacted by an attorney. Thank you in advance for your help.,

Sincerely,

Charles and Sue Rogers
