I am 77 yrs old and live on social security. We recently ran into some financial difficulties and had to contact wells fargo for a one month deferment on car payment. Was told a week and half ago that it would be no problem, just call after the due date and they will take care of it. I phoned today 10/13/08 and after talking to four people and going up their chain of command in their collections department. I was told that my reasons did not qualify me for a deferment of payment for one month. I was told verbatim "We are not heartless, we want our money" this was from the floor supervisor of the collections department. I was floored that I was treated this way after being such a good customer. I have not missed a payment and have been on time with them for 2 1/2 years, 29 payments. I cannot believe that a business would treat a customer like this. It was either paying my rent this month or living in my car, I guess they figured that I should skip rent and just do so.
