This company solicited clients with an ad in our local newspapers. When I contacted them, I was told their minimum loan was for $5000.00 and I agreed to that amount of loan at 9% for three years. The payments according to their faxed contract were to be $159.00 per month for 36 months. I agreed to that. I was then told, because of my credit, they would have to have an insurance policy to cover the amount of the loan and the cost for that would be $500.00 up front. I borrowed that from a relative and sent by Western Union to the address they gave me, a gentleman in Canada by the name of John Riley in Ontario. I was supposed to receive the funding by Monday October 6. I called and couldn't reach anyone, but left a message for a Mr. Anthony Willis. Mr. Willis returned my call on Tuesday October 7th with the news that due to my bad credit this insurer would now request an additional $375.00. When I told him I did not have that extra and had to borrow the first $500 from a relative, he informed me that it would take 4-6 weeks to get a refund on that first $500.00 and if that is what I wanted he would file a cancellation on the loan and start the return process. When I asked him why he could not take the additional funds from my proceeds, he just simply said he couldn't do that. I was trying to make him understand how desperate I was, but he didn't seem to care about my problems. I have the faxed contract from this company signed by a Cynthia Ward, Senior V.P. And a letter from the President, a Mr. James Lieber.
This is not a matter of just sour grapes, this is: " I cannot afford to lose my daughter's $500.00"
