More than 2 months after I closed my account with Landmark Bank, their "bill pay department" sent 2 checks for my 2 Capital One accounts. However, when the checks were presented for payment by Cap One, the checking department returned the checks "account closed".

The account had indeed been closed by me on June 5, and the bank sent the checks on August 11. I did not learn of this until August 18 so by now my accounts were past due.

The end result is that I was charged 2 returned check fees plus 2 late payment fees by Cap One. Today Cap One did remove the late fees, but said they could not (understandably so) return the returned check fees.

The ripoff is by the Landmark Bank, who failed to do their job, and refuses to correct their error.
