I have had an account with providian for years. Always paid on time, never missed a payment. A few months ago, I paid the entire card off (again). Two weeks go by, I call to make sure my payment was received and found out that my account was sold to eMerge. I was given the number to call them. Upon calling, I found out that my card had a zero balance but my account was closed.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and got a person who barely spoke English. I was told by her that Providian closed my account. So, I called Providian back to find out why and was told they did not, eMerge did. For about 3 hours, I got a complete run around. Not a single person was ever able to help me. Everyone was blaming the other one. I was told by eMerge that they sent me a letter, well it must still be in the mail somewhere.
I finally got to the point of letting them know if this did not get straightened out, I was calling my lawyer for fraud. How fast a supervisor got on the phone from eMerge who spoke English. Now I thought I would get some answers. Imagine that. He promised that he would call me within a week, that week is long gone. I called back and asked for him (I did get his name), and once again went through the process of everyone speaking broken English.
Then was told they do not know where he is, because there are a few buildings. Well to this day, I still have no answers and still no letter telling me I do not have an account or that Providian sold my account. I finally gave up and will not call anymore. I can not believe that they (Providian and eMerge) can get away with this.
