I am currently in a financial hardship (as are a lot of us) and looking for other ways to suppliment our family income. Then this $3980.00 check arrives looking like it was a miracle. And an attached letter indicating it was a parttime job offer! Wonderful, I thought.
But several things bothered me about this check. Why would someone send a large check (nearly $4G) to me without verifying anything about me? And why did the envelope have a canada postage stamp with a Michigan check and a New Jersey letter head? Plus the grammer within the letter was slightly off. Not terribly so, like a lot of other scams - but still...
So I called the long distance phone number. Only I got an automation stating the mailbox was full. Since that call was placed on a weekend, I tried again on Monday. Same thing. Now I was getting really suspicious!
My daughter mentioned verifying another scam online. So I started web browsing and found this site. Thank goodness I found this website before I tried anything further! Thank you.
I wrote void on both sides of the check and I am keeping it in my records along with the letters and a copy of this page. If anyone needs it. Let me know. Thanks again.
