Resurgent Capital Services, LP called me and sent me a bill for $205.97, then increased with interest to $223.53 over a week's period. I had sent them a letter disputing such debt, but they not only ignored it, and sent me another letter with a supposed "validation of debt" and an increased amount. When I called them by phone and asked them about what I supposedly purchased six years ago from JC Penny, they are unable to tell me. Their letter reads as follows: "This account has been placed with Resurgent Capital Services LP.
Enclosed please find a validation of debt that verifies the debt. If you have any further questions, please contact one of our Customer Service Representatives toll-free at 1-866-464-1187." They also had translated some of the information into Spanish, which makes me think they are abusing people who might not understand the law and the English language.
I'm seeking advice from custumer legal services here in Olympia, WA; I'm aware this might be a lenghty process, but I'm willing to stand by my rights. These people should be brought to court. Their threats are disturbing my well being, and ability to concentrate in my daily life, and work. There are health related problems associated with the stress they are causing, and no one should be subjected to such abuse!
