My loan was orginated with this company in 1999 sold to EMC went from fixed rate to adjustable rate

My loan was orginally for 49,370.11 and after 9 years of paying 453.00 a month my principal loan amount is still at 42670.53 my fixed rate was set at 10.5% my loan was sold to EMC who has me as a adjustable rate i am now paying 11.375% and am told they can take it all the way to 14%. I am paying almost 5000.00 a year in interest n 300.00 in principal
