MY STORY
I received a call today (12-10-02) from a company claiming to be AMRICAN EAGLE BENEFITS. Chris Murry stated that I was approved for the credit card (MASTERCARD) that I applied to.-Credit limit of 4,000-. This wasnt out of the ordinary because I did in fact apply for two credit cards and so far received only one response, which I declined.
During our conversation everything thing seemed to be ALMOST ordinary, He gave me his name: Chris Murry, his employee number 4422, business phone 1-866-219-4365 and even a pin number for cash advances! I gave him my checking account info to take out the activation fee of $249.00. I was told that they were going to take the activation fee out of my account on the 16th and I would receive my credit card 10-15 days after.
At the end of the conversation he transferred me to the so called. Authorizing officer to record my voice for my securityMy security? Any way. I went through with it.
Hey, Im broke, in debt and trying to build my business..$4,000 sweet!!! Lets roll baby!
About a minute later I decided to call back to get the web site so I could compare it to the ones I previously filled out the applications on. They gave me www.yourbenefitZ.com I got there and didnt recognize anything on the site I have never been to this web site!!!
I then did a search on google for the web site, I found the web sitealong with another website directly below it with the title ofCREDIT CARD SCAMS. Guess what? YourbenefitZ was in the description. This site had the the same story as mine except for different companys names and phone numbers.
I am glad to say my checking account is CLOSED! And a new one is opened!!!
I have done some more quick research and this is what I could find.
From Kathy - I did finally receive my package and it came from xcel Mailing Service, PO Box 9 Columbia, MD 21045-9998 which is the address that was on the mailing label that covered up the address on the envelope of: Benefits, PO Box 935, Bel Air MD, 21014.
The web site is registered to a so called PAUL SCHROEDER.
