We are finally out of BK and Wilshire is at it again! Our CH13 discharge papers came through in April and Wilshire sent us notice in May that there is an outstanding balance due ASAP on our loan... Over $5,000.00!! If we don't pay up within 30 days they will start foreclosure on us.
I called to inquire only to encounter a very nasty mean lady who would not give me her name. The only info I got from her was that this is money due them and it needs to be paid! After a few more go arounds with other CS people (or donkeys I should say) I called another number and was in touch with a very nice person, Theresa, in the tax department, she said that I owed back property taxes from when we were in the BK. I asked how that could be, since that was included in the payments that was submitted before filing. She transferred me to the escrow department where I spoke with Trudy, another very pleasant person. Trudy could not understand the increase either, since taxes were paid to date and transferred me to another person who tried to explain the process of taxes, escrow and increases only to find a decrepency in our loan. When he put me on hold (covered the phone with his hand) to ask his supervisor, I overheard a nasty loud voice saying "you can't talk about that stuff to her! Tell her she owes that money and hang up!" Next thing I knew, I was listening to air... We were disconnected.
I called back and was informed to have my attorney file the proper paperwork if I want any information. What paperwork??? I called my lawyer and told her what was going on, she thinks it has something to do with them trying to get that extra 8 grand from years ago. She was going to call in the morning and find out. A week later I get a letter from Wilshire saying that since we are fresh out of BK that they will work with us and stretch the extra payments out over 30 months.
So some how, some way, some wheres, they are getting much more money from me than what is actually due them but my lawyer says her hands are tied right now... Pay it for now and then we can go after them for reimbursement and penalties.
So now my payment has increases more than $200 a month... Another added expense that wasn't counted for, along with the increase in food, gas and utilities!
And on another note, we've been trying to refinance with another company, ANY other company, and Wilshire is blackballing every move. So I guess we are stuck with them for the remaining 10 years of our loan. Oh boy.
The only good thing to come out of all this is that I was able to access my account through their online site... Something that has been denied for well over 8 months. Now I can again keep a close eye on my payments.
