Like many new comers in the United States, I discovered two years ago how the system of credit score and credit reports works. I knew I had to wait to build my credit history. Having a S. S number, a regular job, a bank account with checking and savings, I finally asked for my first free credit report. Of course, it was almost blank and with no credit score. It was at the beginning of 2007 and I thought it was a normal situation. But guess what.
18 months later, I am always without any Credit Score. Why? Because Transunion seems unable to verify my information. I have called them dozens of time. I send them all the papers about my identity, again and again. Nothing. I am someone living in this country, working, paying his taxes, having a bank account, buying things of all sorts but here it is: I am someone without credit score, and that means, without credit card, without any possibility to obtain the usual cards anybody gets so easily in the shops (I was of course refused by all of them, from Macy's to Barnes and Noble), without any loan, nothing, since each of my demand is refused for "insufficient credit history".
Insufficient credit history? Sure! So let me know, please, please, how many years one need to get an existence in the system. How Transunion can be unable to verify some information during 18 months.
Many thanks.
