Said I was approved for a $5000 loan but required $965 down due to my poor credit

I was contacted by a "Jason Fisher" (if that is his real name) from Western Financial Services. He claimed that I was approved for a $5000 loan but due to my poor credit history if I was paying it off in 36 months then 6 months was due upfront as a securement. Everything seemed legit at first but last month when I was given the information to send the securement via moneygram to a "Charles Spencer" in Canada, my gut told me it was "fishy" but being desperate to pay my medical bills, I went ahead and sent it.

Prior to sending the moneygram, I called Mr. Fisher and told him that Ive read reports online about many internet loan scams and he assured me that this was a legitimate company and that he worked with this private lender
"Charles Spencer" in Canada for a long time. He also said that this would help to rebuild my credit history if I made the loan repayments as scheduled. He emailed me loan documents that looked legitimate and I faxed them to the number he gave me and he verbally took down my banking information.

He was kind and sounded professional and basically trying to reassure me that this was a good company and that after I sent the $965 via moneygram before noon that day my $5000 would be direct deposited into my account by 4pm the same day. He also said that I would be reimbursed for the $15 sending fee. He even said that customer service would be calling me with a welcome packet and he said " congratulations on your loan". At 4:30pm Mr. Fisher was not the same "kind" man that convinced me to proceed with my loan process, he sounded annoyed to hear my voice and before I could ask him what was going on, he cut me off and sent me to customer service.

Customer service was so fake because it sounded like Mr. Fisher but he was trying to disguise his voice. I was told by this man who did not give his name that although they received my secure payment of $965, that after another review of my credit history they could not approve my loan unless I sent another secure payment of $965. I was lost as to what to do because when I asked for a refund they gave me the run around and never told me I would get my money back. They said something about requesting a possible refund in 30days. Then the guy hangs up on me.

I called Mr. Fisher back and when you call the 1800-731-6434 ext. 420 its his extension and ext. 820 is customer service's extension. Whenever you dial the extensions a recording asks "Who's calling?" and when i did say my name I would be sent directly to voicemail. So I called again and didnt say who I was and Mr. Fisher picked up and told me to hold on before even listening to me and sent me directly to voicemail. I lost $965 and that was my rent money now I may face possible eviction. I am a single, hardworking person trying to finish school and now Im stuck cause I lost a lot of money to SCAM artists.

I refuse to allow anyone to be hurt like I was. This isnt right, how could people treat other hardworking people this way? They prey on those with poor credit histories because they know some of us want to clean up our credit and/or pay off bills. Heartless people. I wonder how they sleep at night. I just need my money back. This isnt right. Can anyone help me?
