Power Tax Relief
Stay away! This company is a SCAM. This company is not REAL. They will take your money and do NOTHING! Stay away!

This company stole $3000 from me; didn't do the job they were hired to do; treated me poorly; and refused to give me a full refund. I do not believe that Power Tax is a real, legitimate company.

The crux of the issue is this: I received a letter from the IRS while my offer in compromise was ongoing asking for additional information and an additional $2,400. The IRS said if they did not receive the money, then my OIC would be rejected. Since I didn't have the money to pay, I contacted Power Tax for advice; after all, I did hire them to help me with the OIC. I was given about a two-week window to respond to the IRS, and I was never able to get a hold of anyone at Power Tax; and believe me, I tried many times, but no one would return my phone call. Since I was not able to get any advice from the company I hired to help me, my OIC was rejected. And this wasn't the first time that I didn't receive return phone calls from this company.

About a month after the OIC was rejected, Kay Tse, manager extraordinaire at Power Tax, called me and yelled at me about not getting certain information to the IRS in a timely fashion. I explained to her that I had needed her assistance, and she never returned my phone call. That entire issue has never been resolved. I can prove through my phone records that she DID NOT RETURN MY CALLS. The company even said they were going to order the phone records to research my claim, and Gohar even said that she would provide me with those records. They never did produce those records nor did they ask me to provide my records.

The reason that the records were so important was that Kay Tse said, and I quote, "I will put my money where my mouth is. If you can prove that I did not return your phone calls, I will pay for your OIC." Like an idiot, once Gohar said she would research my claim and get to the bottom of the phone-call issue, I believed them. Almost two weeks later, I received a letter from the IRS stating that Power Tax had withdrawn their power of attorney. When I called Power Tax, I was told that my file had been closed out. So Gohar never got back to me regarding the phone records. Nobody called me to tell me that the file was closed out. I just received a letter from the IRS.

Once I was able to speak with Gohar and Kay regarding the withdrawal of the power of attorney, I got a bunch of run-around from both of them. Kay in particular was extremely rude and condescending. She yelled at me and blamed me for her not returning my call, and she would not let me speak. She also said that they were sending me $750, the amount of the proposed OIC. They never came right out and said that they were wrong or that they dropped the ball by not returning my phone calls. They never provided me with the promised phone records nor asked for mine.

I filed a complaint with the BBB, and in the time that I started my complaint process to now, approximately a month, the company's rating has dropped from a D to an F.in their response to my claims, they listed a whole bunch of lies. "The company contends that they did not offer to pay for her OIC." That is a direct quote from their response. Kay knows what she said, and by paying the $750, they are sort of admitting that my claims are correct.in their final response, the company states that I have a personal vendetta against Kay. Power Tax's response to my complaint was full of LIES.

After reading other complaints about this company, I see that I am not the only person that has had a problem with Power Tax and Kay Tse in particular, nor am I the only person that claims to have not received return phone calls. The quality of service — or should I say lack thereof — of this company speaks volumes.

I still do not believe that Power Tax is a real, legitimate company. They prey on people who are in desperate situations and who don't have much money, and then they take whatever they can. This company is a SCAM. This company's rating is an F. Save yourself, hire a real attorney or a real accountant. They will charge you far less and provide you with far more service. Stay away from power tax!!
