Complaint / Review
Capital One & Equifax Credit Bureau, Cross Country Bank
Ripoff sent me a card stating it was issued to pay off CCB card admitted to how they get information!

I recieved a credit card in the mail today from Capital One. I was confused for many reasons: 1st, I never applied for a Capital One Credit Card. 2nd, the enclosed paper had a credit limit of $1, no lie.

I called Capital One's 877# and told the woman on the phone that I did not apply for the card and do not want this card. She tells me that this card was issued to pay for a CCB (Cross Country Bank) Credit card debit. I told her for starts, I've never owned a CCB card, they recently accused my husband of owning one, which he did not and I have reported them for it.

She then tells me, "Well, we got our information and on it, it states that you have a past due balance." I asked her where she got such information. She tells me, "We buy peoples credit information from the credit bureau, then we buy the debt from another card company. We send you a letter offering you a Capital One card with the balance transfered from the other."

I said, "Excuse me. Who are you to buy my information and who are they to sell it." She then replies, "We can and did as a favor to you and we got your information from Equafax." She then goes on and says, "I need your checking account information to process a larger balance of $50." I told her she wasn't getting any such thing and asked for a supervisor.

She then tells me she's the account supervisor. I found that hard to believe. I asked her for her name: Debbie is all she would say. Then I told her that I am tearing the card up and she can expect it back to her. And told her numerous times that I didn't apply for the card nor want it. She finally said, "I'll reverse this back to the credit bureau and it will show back up on your report.

I hung up. Whatever! I want to know how these people can get away with selling your information, someone needs to put a stop to it.
