I have an old debt going back to 1996 for less then $1000.00. I know that know it is not a legally enforceable debt and can easily ask PRS to cease and desist trying to recover this debt. They contacted me twice, the first time I told them they could not enforce payment and to cease contacting me. Now Im getting "phone calls" with a recording to call a number they provided. Im sending a cease communication letter to them, but after reading some on here, Im wondering if they can legally send me a 1099 as income on a bad debt. This just doesnt seem right as the original debtor wrote this off in 1996. Any advice on how I can be proactive?
