We went to a Statewide Financial in Conyers, GA in November for a 2k loan against our 2001 F150 4x4 pickup truck which was worth about 15k. Our monthly interest note was due on the 26th of each month. We paid the interest for NOV, DEC and January on or around the due date each month (I have all receipts). I notified Mike (owner) that I would be coming in the following week in February to pay the truck off - on our due date.
That morning while husband was working a repo company came and hauled the truck away. I immediantly went to the title company with cash in hand to pay off the truck and they flat out refused my payment. I called the police but was informed that it was a civil matter and their hands were tied. I called the owner since he was not in when I went with my cash and he said just rudely said too bad, the truck is ours now. This was a nice truck and I know he wanted it for a family member because the repo driver told me that was the case and I should get a lawyer.
We hired the lawyer that same day and are still waiting for the case to go to court. Next date scheduled is 04/02/08 but so far 4 court dates have been canceled by his lawyers. I write this not only to inform everyone about Statewide Financial aka Title Pawn, but to also inform people that these guys have got our political leaders by the nuts and if you do business with them, be prepared to get burned and have no leagal recourse. They are flat out crooks.
