I called this H&R Block office in California to ask an estimate of tax prep fees for one person with 1 dependant, head of household, 1 W-2 form and 1 1099 form. Last year at this same office with the same tax situation the price was $110, this year the receptionist quoted me $350. WHAT?!? First of all in California and Oregon for the receptionist (who is not a licensed tax professional) to quote the pricing is illegal. I asked to speak with a licensed tax preparer, she said one would call me back within an hour. Two hours later I called them back and the same receptionist told me the pricing she gave me was correct and if I wanted to talk with a tax preparer I would have to come in to the office. Don't go to this company, they are a rip off!!! I got my taxes done at Jackson Hewitt for less than $100.
