Attention all bad credit individuals! Do not proceed in any loan aggreements with Rockcliffe Financial Group! I was faxed a five page contract which seemed legit, for a loan of $6,000 under the condition of sending $945.00 upfront for finance charge and first loan payment. I was not going to committ until i could verify the legitimicy of this company.
Upon my search, i could not find any reference to this company at all, not by address or company name. I was able to find one reference to the 1-800-963-9165 phone number provided on the loan agreement, which raised an eyebrow since it went to this site allbusiness.com/government/3542638-1.html, an article about a past bank scamming a mail contest for winnings of $2000 some odd dollars requiring fees to be paid up front before receiving award (which never was received). The contact was the same as the one given for Rockcliffe.
A costumer service agent named Alexander seemed helpful at first when i told him about my trust dilema, he gave me the website. Rockcliffe-financial.com. He went on to say he had been employeed for a long period of time, and could vouch for the company, stating they do business with mortgage and business loans, emphazing the core of their business is generated by referrals, so why would they do bad business?"Why would we do that if we know your word of mouth could affect us?" i didnt find it too convincing when he wouldnt give me a direct number.
Alexander then went to say I could visit their office and tehy would credit my fare (flying from FL). Later i was contacted by the "advisor" Andrew saying he recieved a message from costumer service about my concerns. When i asked for corporate information, he said " im just an employee, i dont know anything". Huh. I've been "just an employee" for many companies, yet im always trained to know the corporate information! There i spoke to the office manager who searched the occupationlist for the company name and suite #. Funny thing s they dont go by suite, only by floors. She could not find record of this company name in either of the two buildings. She did say the businesses will sometimes use a ste # instead of floor, so I decided to call Andrew and Alexander's bluff. I called back and was sent to costumer service where i was greeted by Andrew (only 2 employees???). I told him i would take a flight this evening to visit them tomorrow since i could cover the flight cost from the loan they were offering. He seemed to keep his cool except he tried to buy more time asking if we could meet on friday instead of thursday.
I agreed, and asked which floor they were located. He tells me the 2nd floor. I called the property group agian and asked the helpful lady if she could tell me which businesses were on the 2nd floor. Not surprisingly, she says both buildings 2nd floor has been vacant for quite some time now. It was interesting to hear that this is not the first time someone used their information as a dummy address. She told be about a bank that was uncovered as a scam operation using the 2nd floor address. Coincidence? All too familiar! After being convinced that i uncovered a scam, i called back "rockcliffe" and left a messge for Andrew to call me back if he could explain himslef, otherwise i was going to report them to the BBB. Still no call:-)
