CitiMortgage took over my mortgage about 5 years ago, flood insurance was never required so far, but in November Citimorgage send me a letter asking me to buy flood insuracne before the January 1, other wise an escrow will be setup. I hired an survery engineer to do a Elevation Certificate and plan to use it to buy flood insurance myself, When I get my survery back, it said my house is on X zone, not any of the flood zones that requires flood insurance, I contact my insurance agent and reviewed the Elevation Certificate and told me that flood insuracne is not required.
On December 13, I faxed the certificate and stated that my house is not in flood zone so the flood insuracne requirement should be waived. Severl days later, I received mails from Citimortgage, one of the mail said Citimortgage will purchase $1656.00 flood insuracne and setup an escrow account. I call Citigortsge, the service representative told me that I need to file map amended with FEMA to remove the flood insurance requirement.
I told her that I don't need to file with FEMA since My property is not in the flood map, there is nothing to amended, and she told me she can't do anything becouse that has to be decided by citimortgage's Flood Insurance Compliance department and she works in the insurance branch, I asked how can I talk to Flood Insurance Compliance department, and I have been told I can't, and she asked me to fax to the same number again, the department only takes fax. I faxed the certificate and told them that "MY PROPERTY is not IN Flood Zone" on December 28 again and I have not received any response yet.
