In 2005 my brother opened a business. One day I was visiting him and an Indian lady stopped by and asked if he accepted credit cards, I knew that he did not so I told her no, she asked if I was the owner which I replied not, then she left.
The next day she came over again and I just happened to be there again, she spoke to him briefly and he stepped out of the office for a little while, the lady came over to the office where I was sitting and said to me that my brother had told her that it was OK for me to get the credit card machine that she had just offered him. I explained to her that I had nothing to do with his business and I was just visiting him, she was very persistent and convinced me to provide her with my personal information. The next few days she stopped by again and told my brother another story to convince him that I had said it was OK for him to pay the first month and last month rent on the credit card machine, which he did without consulting with me first. The same day after we spoke to each other, we tried without luck to contact the company to cancel the contract that she had left him.
After several phone calls we found out that the company that she said she was working for never existed, and it really was Northern Leasing.
We spoke with a representative called Betty on 4/15/05 that person assure us that the contract was cancelled and the credit card machine would not arrive. A week later the credit card machine arrived and it was sent back. My brother, the owner of the business, tried several times to contact them, so they would not withdraw money from his checking account, however that never happened and he had to close his account.
A year later he closed his business and Northern Leasing System legal department started to contact me in reference to a contract that I had signed with them in the name of my brothers business. I tried to plead with them, however the harassing phone calls kept on coming. I contacted a lawyer in the city where I live, he wrote to them and got in touch with them to stop calling me.
A year later, Northern Leasing legal department started again with the harassing phone calls, furthermore they sued me under the name of Golden Leasing, in the city of New York for an amount that I don't owe, nor I got anything out of them. Not only they ruined my credit, they ruined my economic situation since I had to borrow money to pay for something that Id never signed. If you ever have any representative from this company visit you or trying to sell you something, STAY AWAY!!
