Excessive Use and Method for Obtaining Overdraft fees

Looked on-line to check banking status this A.M. Noticed there were 10 $34.00 fees entered against my account for a total of $340.00. When we inquired as to the reason, the banker said that even though they received the $1,000.00 deposit, it was posted after the pending ATM charges and therefore the account was in the red, and the fees were taken out of the $1,000.00 deposit after they posted it.

Having never run into this situation, I cannot say whether it is their past practice or not. Have had an open account with them for three years. When I mentioned that my $2.50 Starbucks cost $36.50, and it would be decent of the bank to reverse the charges, they were more adamant about not helping me.

Our Chase account always posts the deposits first and we do know that for a fact. We have worked with Wells Fargo in another state for years and it was always their practice to post deposits first. I think that is a show of goodwill.

Feel that if the bank has a credibility problem with me personally, then, their option should be to just refuse to take my business. To say that we are "lucky" they paid the items rather than rejecting them and ruining our credit and we should be grateful - is a stretch. Basically, they stole $340.00 from us and they are going to be bullies and keep it because they can. Or so they say they can. My question here on this forum is, Can they?
