I went to meet with these guys at Senbelt Boston in their office in Boston to discuss a full time job. I had been on my own for some time and was looking for something new. I had read an ad they had and applied. They called me up and invited me in to meet with them. Turns out to be an executive office rental space. I get there and the owner is not there. So I start speaking with this other guy. He goes into the history of the company and everything. The owner arrives about 30 minutes later.
The owner, who says he is the President of the Boston office, starts talkign about investments and the great opportunity. When I asked him what investment he mentioned that for $25,000 he would guarantee me a territory in Boston for me to manage and develop business.in return he would handle all back office administration. I just needed to bring in the money.
I was taken by surprise. They mentioned nothing like this in the ad.
I left saying I would think about it. I have, and even though it has been several months I am still upset about this situation. That was totally misleading as to the opportunity.
I later learned that I could set up my own business similar to his and work with any other Business Broker who would do the same thing without charging me an up-front fee.
My advice is to be careful of such gimmicks. They are everywhere.
