I received a strange phone call at work today. The receptionist gave me the message and said the man was very rude. I called the number at lunch and a man with a thick accent answered the phone. I asked him what it was in regard to and all he would say that I had committed bank fraud. When I asked him his name he called himself 'Officer Nick'. I said that was impossible and it had to be a mistake.
He transferred me to another man who would not give his name. He immediately started yelling at me and when I tried asking questions he would cut me off and say I had committed a crime and that he was with the FBI. I kept trying to ask about the company name and info on the situation, he continued to yell and that he was sending agents to my work to have me arrested and that I would spend a year in jail. Then he wished me good luck and hung up on me.
They tried calling me back a few minutes later on my personal phone (which I did not give them) but I didn't answer (I was furious). I called back to get more info but will not give me any info all they wanted was my bank info and their $, but I refused to give them any info without validation of the "so called" debt. I have never taken any loans out with these people and the fact that they impersonated a police officer and a FBI agent is very scary. I have filed complaints with the Texas AG as well as Florida AG.
