The magazine is fine. They out-source their subscription services to a location in Florida. Then, if your subscription is incorrect, they just sell it to the collection agency - North Shore Associates.
I did the following when a renewal was not credited. The Florida (800#) person said I didn't pay the renewal. I informed them that the check (my paperless bank generated) had cleared.
Still, no sympathy - they wanted a copy of the cancelled check. The deal - "You are treating me, a customer, as a liar when I tell you I have the cancelled check. When I send you the actual cancelled check, I want an additional 12 month extension to my subscription." They backed off and wanted to stop "playing games" and just send them the check - if I even had it! I took the deal I proposed, sent it to the Houston Office as well as Florida. I got my 12 months and more.
They are dysfunctional. They outsource their subscription handling to a company who gets it wrong and then bill collectors are after you. Break the cycle. Go through Houston, emails, faxes, phones, snail mail.
